I Know This is Late, But…

I have my reasons for delaying my American Idol results thoughts…I mean yes, we all knew Paige Miles was outta there!…I never could understand why she stuck around, flying under the radar, in the first place…sure, she can blame laryngitis, but for God’s sake, SING LIKE YOU WANT TO WIN!!!…I know understand why Simon made the unanimous decision to NOT let Miles sing for the coveted save…she didn’t want it bad enough and she had the worst logic in trying to explain why she was sooooooooooooo bad…in the end, I’m just baffled by this season so far and I know I’m not alone…the judges always brag that “this is the most talented group we’ve ever had”…they say it every season…I’m not too sure they had said it outright this time around, because the talent is hugely lacking…I even have my suspicions now Big Mike Lynche may not be in the final two…he’s not been too memorable, at least to me, these last two weeks…he could be elimated out of the blue, ala Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Melinda Doolittle, etc. etc….
You really have to wonder: who does want to win?…Crystal Bowersox could release a cd right now and it would sell extremely well…I’m not sure she needs American Idol to prove that, alas, she will be seen by millions of record buyers and label moguls every week, so it can’t hurt…the only other frontrunner right now is quirky Siobhan Mangus…who has her own fans…the “Siobhanmbies”…as in zombies…I love that!…the comparisons to Adam Lambert are silly, there’s only one…don’t forget it!…the comparison is only being made because, in realty, Mangus probably can’t win…I can’t even begin to think how you would market her…she’s not a conventional pop singer…but neither is Bowersox…Mangus could maybe corner the market on a Liz Phair-Lisa Loeb type of artist…or an Alanis Morissette???…God, I miss her!…now to the rest of litter…and I mean litter…Andrew Garcia is the biggest enigma remaining…why is he still there????…I have an inkling he could wow American again, but brother has to do it pronto! starting next week…Aaron Kelly is still there for the pre-pubescent crowd who fell in love with David Archuleta or God help me, Sanjaya Malakar in the past…Didi Benami is another one who just hasn’t proven to me she has the goods to win…she’s been out-quirked by Mangus, so sorry, thanks for playing…then you have bottom 3 regulars, Tim Urban and Katie Stevens…they are both so not ready for American Idol….Urban is huge clown who is trying desperately to milk his hunky-cute factor for all its worth….so stupid…Katie just doesn’t have the contemporary sensibility to make it much further, I mean how soulful (next week’s theme) can she really be?…UGH!…I almost forgot to throw a bone to the other hunky, pretty boy in the competition, Casey James…with Paige gone, he’s your new “fly under the radar” contestant, I guarantee it…
So there you go, I promise to not elaborate this much every week, but I had to vent and I leave you with a picture that came up when I searched image results for “Paige Miles”:

Kim Done Flipped Again!!!…

Oh dear…I just wonder how many times Kim Zolciak will say she’s gay, then she’s not, and so on and so on until I go nuts…Zolciak, in a Fox News exclusive, has now admitted she is in a relationship with a female, namely DJ Tracy Young…which I think she denied a relationship too…I know a new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta will be filming before the year is out and you know, it will include all of this friggin’ drama….here’s Kim’s quote on her first kiss with Young, prepare to gag!
“We were both going through heartbreak at the time. I had split up with Big Poppa, and she had just ended a relationship she had been in for three years. The first night we met, we just connected on a different level. We ended up talking for two hours. After that, we started working in the studio together, remixing ‘Tardy for the Party.’ We gradually became closer,” she added. “There were sparks, but [physically] it was a gradual situation. Tracy made the first move. Our first kiss was passionate and exciting.”
These actions prove Kim will do ANYTHING to get attention and press! uh huh.

No Save For You!

Oh yes!…America’s first vote for who goes home in the coveted top 12 goes to Lacey Brown…America?…I may just forgive you…my good fortunes were almost swept away when I remembered that the judges could have saved her…yes, the dreaded “judges’ save” that can only be used ONCE all season up until the final four…my heart sank for about 20 minutes when I realized Lacey could be saved…however, in the first week, this usually doesn’t happen…it all depends on who gets the boot, and then that person has to lipsynch for his or her life…OOOPS…I mean sing one last time to convince the judges he or she still deserves to be there…sorry Lacey, but she NEVER deserved to be there…however, I was a bit baffled by America’s choices for the bottom 3: Lacey, Paige Miles, and Tim Urban…Urban was sent right back to the couch by Seacrest…and Urban is damn lucky, because he doesn’t show any promise whatsoever…Paige Miles will be that “fly under the radar” singer this year I guess…she was okay the other night, but I still don’t see why she’s still there…and yes, Katie Stevens is still around, as is Aaron Kelly…you have to wonder what criteria the nation votes on…is it who they like or is it who is the better singer/performer?….At this blog time, it is not known what next week’s theme is…it doesn’t matter, the weak ones will be cast off one by one just like the weaker teams in the upcoming NCAA tournament..
How’s that for an analogy?

A Jock Trapped in a Lesbian’s Body…March Madness!

I admit it, I’m nuts for the NCAA tournament… this is the only time of year a person who shows zero interest in basketball, let alone spots, thinks he or she can fill out the perfect bracket…I’m not one of those people…I’ve been brought up on basketball, football, softball, baseball, tennis, and so forth, so I think I might have a little bit of an advantage picking out the winners in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament…I have completed several brackets already, I have four laying here beside me…very few will involve money…the whole “fantasy” aspect of picking the correct bracket promises great wealth, prizes, and recognition…in the end, like Aldo Nova says, “it’s just a fantasy”…
Now as for who will make the the championship game….I’m pretty sure, and even though I’m not a fan, the University of Kentucky has a very good chance of winning it all…if you remember last year, they weren’t in the tournament at all…they made it past 3(?) rounds in the NIT…and where is last year’s college champ North Carolina?…in the NIT…I’ll be cheering for the other KY teams…Louisville, last year’s overall no. 1 seed and Murray State…who is coming into the tournament boasting a 30-win season and an OVC conference championship…I’m excited to say the least…
GO????…EVERBODY!

Dear American Idol…namely the AMERICA part…

Oh dear, where to start?…if you look closely at the photo above…that’s your two finalists…yep…and now that the top 12 have been revealed, it will be a billion times easier for Big Mike Lynche and Crystal Bowersox to make it to May, unscathed…I was out of town all day and all last night, so I didn’t see the big reveal live, and boy am I glad I didn’t…naturally I fast forwarded through all of Seacrest’s and the judges’ kiss-ass material…I just realized, this will be the first season I will have the capability of using my DVR…OMG!…it will be awesome on elimination nights…
All right, so the top 12 is not great at all…granted, there are some dark horses in there, like Siobhan Mangus and Andrew Garcia…Garcia…my man, he has GOT to do something different when the real competition starts next week…his acoustic versions of pop songs????…not going to work from this point forward unless a theme calls for it, but for now, he’s got to drop that strategy…I’m very disappointed Todrick Hall won’t be there to entertain us…I was beginning to get an Adam Lambert performance vibe from him after his too little/too late rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” this week…I guess the biggest shock on the men’s side was when Aaron Kelly made it in and Alex Lambert didn’t…I was NOT a fan of either guy, especially Lambert…never let that last name deceive you!…stiff, boring, lackluster…I could go on…we get an Aaron Kelly just about every season, so I’m not surprised he’s in…as predicted, the top 6 girls were shocking…
The first elimination came down to Katelyn Epperly or Paige Miles making it in…I was not worried, as I was confident Epperly could bounce back from her Carole King debacle Tuesday night…Paige was terrible with her sad, weak rendition of “Smile”, so pitiful, but guess what?…Paige gets in?!?…yeah, and the head-scratching didn’t stop there…Lacey Brown makes it in, no questions asked, except for the panel still not knowing what kind of artist she is….I guess my biggest question was why was Crystal so sad????…she’s a winner!…good God, loosen up!…my theory on why Katie Stevens makes it in and Lilly Scott doesn’t is because of Didi Benami…they were too similar and in the end, Benami was more safe and not too quirky…so unless Paige can majorly step her game, we are without a diva-in-the-making this year…Bowersox doesn’t count…she’s in a league beyond diva…
So the competition kicks off with the songs of The Rolling Stones…wow!

Corey Haim

I can’t believe it has happened, though sadly, it was not a surprise…Corey Haim ruled the 80’s teen flicks with his co-star and his best friend, Corey Feldman…aka The Coreys…both stars had early individual success…Haim with LUCAS, Feldman with THE GOONIES…however, their first collaboration, THE LOST BOYS…was huge and it has become a cult hit…Feldman tried to help his friend, by helping him land a role in the Lost Boys sequel a few years ago…however, if you watched A&E’s “The Two Coreys”, Haim was freaked out and he was suspected of taking anti-anxiety meds…Haim had become so desperate in the last ten years, you may remember he offered up some of his teeth for auction on EBay…I hate to see Corey Haim become another fallen child star statistic, but he was never going to give up drugs…which you could see throughout “The Two Coreys”…I only think of one movie when I think of the Coreys….
RIP Man!

American Idol: A Little Better Call on the Departed…

So, here we are, week two of Idol is over and Cystal Bowersox is still around, and that’s a good thing!…the drama of her medical issues and her subsequent hospitalization made fans cry foul over fears Crystal getting a free pass because she is one of the obvious favorites…some fans thought why not show her rehearsal footage or a clip from week one?…I can tell you now, she still would’ve made it through…maybe it is sympathy, but she doesn’t want that….she is the most talented in the competition…however, I’m beginning to like a few of her female competitors…namely Katelyn Epperly, she was sort of boring and safe with her piano performance of Coldplay’s “The Scientist”, but I see her as someone who could really turn the competition around…she’s a dark horse for sure…my other dark horse? Siobhan Mangus…I know she’s really a geek a heart who, under normal circumstances, would have never chosen to compete on a show like American Idol…she has a lot of power in her voice and she is a performer…I’m afraid Lilly Scott and Didi Benami, who almost went home last night, will wear on America over time, maybe sooner…my two who I thought were gone last week, Katie Stevens and Lacey Brown, they improved, but they still don’t have a shot to win…so America said goodbye to Michelle Delamor and teeny-bopper Haeley Vaughn…I thought Delamor had more talent, but then I heard her version of Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open”…yikes!…oh well….I confess, I was a little excited about Haeley Vaughn after her initial audition…since then, her performances and her voice have been all over the place…”The Climb” was her kiss of death…well, it’s the kiss of death in general…
Again, I’m not a fan of any of the guys except for maybe, Michael Lynche…and it’s only because he has a personality…Tim Urban and Alex Lambert live to see another week, they improved, but again, slightly…Todrick Hall is in trouble if he doesn’t choose better songs and he has to stick to the main melody…Andrew Garcia continues to be an extreme disappointment as he was close to going home last night…Jermaine Sellers and John Park go home, and I would say that’s the best call at this point…no pizzazz!..they both sufferered from almost zero camera time after their initial auditions…but really?…we didn’t miss anything…
